At the Facility Committee meeting on Monday evening, April 6, the Committee chose Shawnee Construction to be the General Contractor for our building program. Seven contractors were given the opportunity to bid on this project; five of them submitted bids. Shawnee’s bid was $72,000 less than the next lowest bid and 293,000 less than the highest bid. Also, Shawnee committed itself to complete the project in 270 days (9 months) from the start of the work. Two of the other contractors also would have completed the project in a similar amount of time; the other two would have completed the project within one year. Shawnee’s bid came in at $172,165 less than the amount projected by the architects.
